Costume party

When it comes to throwing incredible parties, Taylor Swift is renowned. And thanks to the help of some of her extra-special celeb friends, Swift saw in 2019 in the best way possible dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

– Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, were also in attendance, with the former Gossip Girl star dressing up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz.

– Model Gigi Hadid stole the show with her pitch perfect Mary Poppins costume. Bravo!

Unsurprisingly, Taylor Swift‘s New Year’s Eve party to celebrate the end of 2018 was all kinds of epic.

Firstly, the “All Too Well” singer wore an absolutely perfect Ariel costume, looking exactly like her The Little Mermaid counterpart. Meanwhile, Blake Lively channeled Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, and Gigi Hadid transformed herself into Mary Poppins. Watch out, Emily Blunt.

Taylor Swift went full-on Disney for her New Year’s Eve celebration, which also included throwing down some Aviation Gin with Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds.

Swift posted photos from the party on Instagram, where she is dressed as Ariel of The Little Mermaid fame. Swift wasn’t the only one in costume though, as other guests were dressed as characters like Mary Poppins, Cinderella, Mr. Toad, Avril, Nancy Drew, Posh Spice, Rizzo, Steve Irwin, and Dorothy, who you’ll likely recognize as Blake Lively.

Taylor herself dressed as Ariel.

That would probably explain why Swift is later drinking some Aviation Gin with Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds. Aviation Gin is owned by Reynolds, who purchased the company earlier this year. Reynolds isn’t making the Gin, of course, he does act as the brand’s spokesperson, and according to the company will have “active role in the day-to-day business, and oversee creative direction as part of his mission to introduce the world to the great taste of Aviation” according to the initial announcement.

“We couldn’t be happier that Ryan discovered Aviation. He wholeheartedly embodies the authentic, original spirit of Aviation Gin,” CEO of Davos Brands, Andrew T. Chrisomalis, said in a statement. “Ryan has worked tirelessly to create some of the world’s most iconic media properties and will bring that drive and creativity to sharing Aviation with the world.”

Revealing everyone’s inspirations behind their outfits, Swift wrote on Instagram, “Mary Poppins, Audrey, Ariel, Ms. Frizzle, Cinderella, Gwen, Mr. Toad, Avril, Nancy Drew, Posh Spice, Rizzo, Frida Kahlo, Steve Irwin, Dorothy.. This new year we decided to dress up as our childhood heroes. Sending you all love and hope going into 2019 💗”:

Stylist Mimi Cuttrell also posted a picture of Hadid in her excellent Mary Poppins costume.

Taylor captioned this snap ‘Mary Poppins, Audrey, Ariel, Ms. Frizzle, Cinderella, Gwen, Mr. Toad, Avril, Nancy Drew, Posh Spice, Rizzo, Frida Kahlo, Steve Irwin, Dorothy.. ‘

Swift closed out 2018 by dropping a concert special from her Reputation tour on Netflix. She released a trailer for the film earlier this month, writing on social media, “You made this tour so insanely fun for all of us on stage, and I’m really excited that we will have this memento of the memories we all made together this year.”

All of this came after Taylor had a headline-making 2018: She spoke up politically and got active in Tennessee for the first time since critics began urging her not to stay silent in the wake of Donald Trump’s election. But she seemed to be kissing a long year goodbye with this party—and has hinted that she has plenty in store, including new music, in 2019.

New Year’s Eve also saw the release of Swift’s Reputation concert film on Netflix, much to the delight of fans all over the world. Basically, it already looks like 2019 is going to be an incredible year for Swift.
