Twitter Sold To Elon Musk

Billionaire Elon Musk made one of the biggest deals of all time. On April 14, 2022, Musk announced his takeover bid of $44 billion, calling it the ‘best and final offer”. However, on 25th April Twitter agreed to sell itself to Elon Musk at $44 billion deal.

Elon Musk will be the new owner of Twitter, who has frequently criticized it for not living up to its potential as a platform for “free speech.”

The Board Of Directors of Twitter unanimously approved the deal and it’s expected to close in 2022. Musk revealed that he had lined up $46.5 billion to acquire the company forcing Twitter’s board to consider the deal. Twitter has 217 active daily million users.

The Tesla co-founder, has also spoken about introducing an ‘Edit Button’ to Twitter. To support his statement, he deliberately made a typing mistake to highlight that an edit button is needed to avoid typos.

Musk’s Plan For Twitter

Elon Musk is one of the controversial and high-profile users of Twitter. With more than 84 Million followers, he uses his account to share memes. He recently shared a meme of Bill Gates on his Twitter account. His goal is to support free speech on the platform and to “unlock” Twitter’s “extraordinary potential.”

He plans to “make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features. Making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spambots, and authenticating all humans.” Separately, he said in a tweet Monday that he hopes “even my worst critics remain on Twitter because that is what free speech means.” Musk posted saying, “I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter because that is what free speech means”.
