Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have reportedly called it quits—again.

Sad news for Gigi and Zayn fans: the stylish couple has reportedly split, yet again. A source close to the couple confirmed the same that the couple who were constantly in an on and off relationship might have called it quits for real this time. “They’re done,” the source said. “They could get back together, but it’s over for now.” There were rumours of things not going well between them but it was speculated that they were just taking some time apart.

Fans also noticed the cold breeze between Zayn and Gigi’s IG and other social media accounts. While the couple usually showers each other with adorable posts and comments on Instagram, all that took a big pause starting early November. They didn’t even celebrate the holidays together and Gigi attended Taylor Swift’s New Year’s Eve themed party alone in a cute Mary Poppins outfit. Apparently, Gigi did her best but it was Zayn who had a lot of his own issues to deal with. A source told US Weekly, Gigi “tried hard to make it work,” but Zayn has “a lot of his own issues that she couldn’t help him get through.”

The reason for their split is also unknown. A source told that Gigi and Zayn didn’t breakup because they stopped loving each other, but rather because they “just couldn’t make it work.” Zayn is working on “personal things,” the insider added, and Gigi “has become a comfort blanket for him.”

A source told Us that Hadid “cut herself off from all her friends” whenever she was with Malik. “She focused all her time and energy on him, but it just got to be too much,” the source claimed.

Gigi noticeably didn’t share any photos with Zayn over the holidays, but she was seen with friends at Taylor Swift’s costume party on New Year’s Eve, sans Malik.

Hadid and Malik previously broke up in March 2018 after two years of dating and announced the news with lengthy statements on social media. “I’m forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared,” Gigi included in her note. “I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for.”

After they patched up earlier in May after their March breakup, Gigi went through a whole new ordeal as she started cutting people off from her life. “She cut herself off from all her friends every time they were together,” the second source told. “She focused all her time and energy on him, but it just got to be too much.” Despite some highlights in their relationship, things trailed off back to the way they were before. It is sad to see these two young and hopeless romantics not being able to work it out. We just wish with the new year, they too resolve all the issues and patch up, once and for all.

Stories

The high-profile couple first started dating in November 2015, but stirred up the first inklings of their split when Malik, 25, didn’t sit in the audience of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in November to cheer on Hadid, 23, as he has done in previous years. The pair have not appeared on each other’s social media feeds over the past few months, and most recently appeared to spend the holidays apart. Malik is also no longer following Hadid on Instagram.

On Dec. 12, the model was noticeably absent from the party that Malik hosted for his new album, Icarus Falls. On the same day, Hadid instead posted photos to Instagram of herself cuddling up to a horse with the caption, “Preferred house guest,” and made no mention of Malik’s music. Malik also appeared to be a no-show at mutual pal Taylor Swift‘s New Year’s Eve party, where Hadid dressed as Mary Poppins.

The pair started dating in November 2015, but announced their split publicly in March 2018, with the model releasing a statement at the time reading:

Gigi Statement:

“Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years.. not only in the relationship, but in life in general. I’m forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever’s meant to be will always be. xG”

Zayn added:

“Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend. She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish the news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ”

By the end of April, though, the pair were spotted kissing again, and confirmed they were back on with a number of loved up Instagram posts and a telling response to a fan from Gigi.

The last photo of the former One Direction member that appeared on Hadid’s Instagram was from Oct. 21, and while it might seem that the fact Malik doesn’t follow Hadid on the platform at all was a sign, Hadid has addressed that in the past.

In July, Hadid responded to an Instagram account who pointed out that Malik doesn’t follow her by saying, “for someone who is virtually inactive on the app, I don’t need his follow — my eyes are tattooed to his chest.”

For the 2019 Pirelli Calendar, which was released in December, Hadid posed with designer Alexander Wang and played the part of a woman who just broke up with her companion — though the calendar’s photographer, Albert Watson, said she was “acting.”

Most recently, Malik spoke out about his relationship with Hadid for the December issue of British Vogue.

“Everything is great,” he said. “She’s super-organized and I’m really not. It helps that she can get things together for me a little bit. I lean on her a lot.”

But it apparently wasn’t to be, after a new report from Us Weekly claimed they are in fact over, with a source confirming the relationship was done.

They’re done,” the source said. “They could get back together, but it’s over for now.”

A second insider added that Gigi was the one who “tried hard to make it work,” but Zayn has “a lot of his own issues that she couldn’t help him get through. She cut herself off from all her friends every time they were together. She focused all her time and energy on him, but it just got to be too much.” We just wish with the new year, they too resolve all the issues and patch up, once and for all.
