HBO has been hit severely by the recent hacking game. After multiple hackers managed to get the access of all the crucial HBO data and even the social media channel login details, the channel came under the state of shock.
Although, the channel claimed that the recent episode got leaked due to their own mistake but they didn’t deny the cyber crime attacks that have been successfully done on the channel. HBO said in a statement-
“We have learned that the upcoming episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ was accidentally posted for a brief time on the HBO Nordic and HBO España platforms. The error appears to have originated with a third-party vendor and the episode was removed as soon as it was recognized. This is not connected to the recent cyber incident at HBO in the U.S.”
As per the reports, The original hackers, who call themselves the ‘Mr. Smith group’ had released 1.5 terabytes of information including scripts and other crucial information about the employees.
And now metro.co.uk has reported that The same group has now threatened HBO to release the finale of Game Of Thrones Season 7.
In fact, Mashable has claimed that the group of hackers reached out to them and revealed what seems to be the login details of almost every social media account that the channel operates.
After claiming that they have access to almost all HBO data, the group said that they have something direr planned for the future. In an email sent to Mashable, they said-
“Be ready for GOT S& E6 &E7 as soon as possible.”
It has been confirmed by HBO that the hackers have demanded huge $6.5 million from the HBO as a ransom of the stolen data.
Well, seems like the company is in deep trouble now and it will be a really interesting case to see. Let’s hope they find the fix soon.
