April Fools? Pop star Justin Bieber has had some fun on April Fools’ Day by posting photos of wife Hailey Baldwin‘s ‘baby bump’.

Justin Bieber received a lot of flak for sharing a fake pregnancy post on April Fools’ Day. The Love Yourself singer took to Instagram on Monday to share a caption-less photograph of an ultrasound, implying that he and his wife Hailey Baldwin were expecting their first child together.

For a split second on Monday, fans thought Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin were going to be parents. Of course, this was nothing more than an April Fool’s Day hoax.

The pregnancy speculation first started after Justin posted a photo of a sonogram on Instagram.

April Fools Joke

Naturally, many thought this was nothing more an April Fools Joke, considering he posted it on April 1. Then, a few minutes later, Justin doubled down, posting a series of photos that appeared to show Hailey being looked by doctors while she touched her stomach.

“If U thought it was April fools,” he captioned the images of Hailey.

After that Hailey almost immediately threw water on the story, commenting to her husband, “Very funny…”.

Many of Justin’s celebrity friends seemed to think this was the real deal, offering him congratulations on his Instagram.

His initial posts were filled with comments of support from friends and fans who congratulated the couple on their “miracle”, while others questioned if this was just an elaborate April Fools’ joke.

However, after an hour, the singer posted a sonogram with a picture in the center .

Bieber later added a third Instagram post of a puppy photoshopped into the ultrasound. “Wait omg is that a.. April Fools,” he captioned the image.

Justin has openly spoken about his desire to be a father. In a recent Instagram post, he mentions that he was working on some “deep-rooted issues” in order to “sustain my marriage and be the father I want to be.”

Back in 2011, he says he wants to be a “young dad.”

“By 25 or 26, I want to see myself, like, married or start looking for a family,” he told Women’s Wear Daily.

Before Justin’s April 1 post

A few days before Justin’s April 1 post, a source told People magazine, “Right now, he’s ready to be a dad. That’s what he wants to be. He knows that he has to get things to figure out so that he can be the dad he wants to be. But that’s his focus. Being a dad is his dream right now.”

The source later added that Justin and Hailey “love the idea of becoming parents.”

“He’s going to be a great dad, and she’s going to be a wonderful mom,” the source said. “She’s really got her head on straight, and Justin has a new sense of clarity and purpose. They’re going to thrive as parents, when the time comes.”

While some users called Bieber’s prank “genius”, others said pregnancy is no laughing matter, slamming the pop star for insensitivity for couples who struggle to conceive or have lost children.

The backlash follows a growing number of social media users advocating for an end to fake pregnancy announcements on April Fools’ Day.

“1 in 4 women miscarry, 1 in 8 couples experience infertility, 1 in 160 pregnancies end in stillbirth, Think before you prank on April Fools Day, because pregnancy is not a joke. Don’t degrade something so precious and valuable,” a user tweeted ahead of April 1.

Ahead of the joke-filled day, Main Line Fertility reminded Twitter followers Friday that, “We love a good laugh, but pregnancy is not an April Fools Joke.”

Bieber has not addressed the backlash, and all three posts remain on his Instagram page.

Story on April Fool day

The day that people either love or hate is finally here.

April Fools’ Day has finally rolled around and some celebs are getting in their laughs while they can. Thousands of fans woke up on Monday morning to find that stars like Jennifer Garner and Tom Brady are trying to pull a fast one on them.

Some people, like Jen, got particularly creative with their pranks, while others tried to do the age-old pregnancy announcement.

Justin Bieber happens to be one of those stars. On Monday afternoon, Shared to his Instagram was a suspect-looking photo of a sonogram.

The photo was left caption-less, but people knew it was a fake when his wife Hailey Bieber almost immediately threw water on the story commented, “Very funny…” Plus.

The baby was way too big for people to believe Hailey could be hiding a bump that big and a Google search would reveal that the photo is indeed a fake.

The story took a twist though when Hailey deleted her comment on the sonogram. Then, just moments later, Justin shared a second photo of Hailey sitting on the exam table at a doctor’s office, with her tummy exposed. “If U thought it was April fools,” the “What Do U Mean” singer hinted. Huh?

No word yet on whether this one is a prank or the real thing.

Jennifer garner prank

Jennifer Garner manages to pull off a prank that was both light-heart and creative, by jokingly announcing the release of her autobiography. Although, it must be said that her prank did elicit some disappointment from her more avid fans.

She apologized, “Thank you for being so happy for me. Your sweetness makes me feel [guilty emoji] for playing a joke. But this is an April Fool’s.”

Tom Brady, on the other hand, nearly caused a riot by joking that he was retiring from the New England Patriots. “I’m retiring. In my spare time, I’ll be tweeting,” the six-time Super Bowl champion stated.

Unsurprisingly, fans went mad over the news, causing the 41-year-old to clear-up any unnecessary confusion. His response was simply: “Was this a bad joke?” Probably not the best thing to say in your first-ever tweet.

Mindy Kaling prank

Then there are stars like Mindy Kaling, who showed off her new blonde locks as a prank on her fans. The natural brunette included the hashtag #AprilFoolsDay, but now some people are urging her to make the drastic change. “Ummmm ok do it tho,” model Tess Holliday told her.

However, a few stars are taking the opportunity to air their grievances about the infamous holiday, including Mark Hamill, who tweeted, “I was hoping to do a gag that was actually funny, without being mean-spirited, irritating or massively disappointing. I’ll let you know when I think of one.”

But the pranks don’t end there! Celebs are only getting started.

With hours left in the day, who knows what else these stars will pull off.
