Samsung has released several videos highlighting different functions of the camera. Samsung on Wednesday released yet another teaser in the wake of the impending Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ launch at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Barcelona, ahead of MWC 2018. Much like the previous ones, the “Camera. Reimagined” teaser is also focused on camera features, considering that might be the only major upgrade on the Galaxy S8 range’s successor. The video teases various elements such as flash, iris, photo tagging, selfies, and other youth-oriented features.
- The video suggests an upgrade for the front-facing iris scanner
- We might also see an update on the flash/ low light photography front
- Social features like selfie stickers and photo tagging are expected
“Imagine a camera that can see more than your eyes — one that can help you capture every moment and change the way you experience the world. We didn’t just update the camera. We rethought the entire camera experience.” the company wrote on its website.
Samsung has posted three videos on its Korean YouTube channel, giving a glimpse at the smartphone’s camera features. Camera would be the smartphone’s key feature as the Galaxy S9’s tagline is ‘The Camera. Reimagined’.
The newly released teaser video hints about what we can expect from the Samsung Galaxy S9’s camera. The 30-second video dubbed as “The Camera Reimagined” shows us things that are apparently also being reimagined. Here, the word “reimagined” hints that the upcoming Galaxy S9 camera(s) could be much more than just refined and will be entirely different.
Taking that into account, the Samsung’s latest flagship S8 already had a quite capable camera so this could be exciting. The upcoming Samsung smartphone might come with better selfies, selfie video quality, flash and low light photography, Snapchat-inspired animation effects (similar to Galaxy S/S8+) and Boomerang-like warp videos.
The other video clips released recently teased the new slow-motion and low-light abilities of the Galaxy S9 camera. The video below showcases speed. Also, don’t forget to watch the end part as when the “9” appears, time slows down to a crawl which is apparently a reference to a slow-motion camera.
This video shows high-speed, low-light prowess and aMoving on to the second teaser, this one focuses on low-light photography. The video shows how the Galaxy S9’s low-light capture is really, really bright.
This video also complements speculations of Samsung Galaxy S9’s camera having f/1.5 aperture. lso suggests that the S9 could sport iPhone X-inspired “Animoji.”
Samsung’s flagship smartphones are tested performers and impress heavily in the camera department. The predecessor Galaxy S8 has 88 points, while Galaxy Note 8 scores 94 making it “the best smartphone for zoom”.
Based on recent rumors and leaks, Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor or the latest Exynos series. It could come with 4GB of RAM and 6GB of RAM as well. More expected features include an 18:9 display, and Android 8.0 Oreo.
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S9 and S9+ on February 25 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 trade show in Barcelona.
